Lesson 1 (from Chapters 1 and 2)
Objective
In Chapter 1, the narrator is robbed of his sense of sight due to injury, and as a result, relies on his sense of hearing to discern what is happening around him. His observations lead him to believe something very wrong has occurred, at least in the area he is in. Further examination suggests something has happened in a wider area. This lesson will discuss the narrator's use of hearing as a primary sight.

What sound does he use to help him determine time? What does that tell him about his situation? How does he use sound to determine something is wrong on a wider scale?
