Hearing as a Sense

In the book, several individuals are forced by blindness to use their sense of hearing to discern the world around them. Have each student put on a blindfold and pay attention to their world through sound. Note what sounds tell you about position of things, placement of people, and the business of the world.

Domestication

In the novel, triffids are kept as entertainment in gardens throughout the world, even though they are shown to be quite dangerous. Bring in an article about another animal or plant that has been domesticated, but is still dangerous for humans (i.e., a pet tiger, elephant, monkey, etc). Present your article to the class.
