Objective
The objective of this lesson is to examine the author's life and writing. Alexandra Bracken is the author of the Darkest Minds. Her first novel was written was she was 19. She writes for young adults.

Class Discussion: When did Bracken first want to be a writer? When did she first start writing? When was her first novel published? Where does Bracken write? What inspires Bracken when she creates the worlds in her books? How does she decide what time period to use for her novels? What does Bracken find most challenging in the writing process? What does she enjoy most about the writing process? What did her parents expose her to as a child that stirred her imagination? When did Bracken begin writing full time?
Activity: Divide the students into small groups. Have each group create a chart or poster that shows these things: books...
