This character uses his artistic ability as a cartoonist to record his father's story as a Holocause survivor. This character depicts his father as he actually is, instead of omitting details, or romanticizing him, and this makes Maus highly complicated, because his father is not a likable character, even though he endured so much in the war.
Vladek
This character is a Holocaust survivor who is currently living in Rego Park with his second wife. Although this character was good looking and seemed destined for success when he was younger, he is now an unlikable old man due to his tramatization from the Holocaust.
