Based on the descriptions in the novel, create a brochure of Olinka including a map, places of interest, and a brief history of the place.

Traditional Dress

Come to class wearing an outfit that you believe to be representative of the clothing that might have been worn by one or more of the characters in the novel.

Shadow Box

Use an empty shoebox to recreate a scene from the novel. Puncture a hole in one side so that the viewer can peer through and see the scene in 3-D.

Obituaries

Many great characters in this novel lose their lives, and yet they are too poor to take out an obituary in the newspaper. Create an obituary for one of the characters that has lost a life, and highlight the items that you believe a grieving family may want to read about their loved one.
