Objective
The objective of this lesson is to discuss where Elodie and Birdie seem to fit in society, and what is revealed about class structure. When Elodie's fiance and his mother are mentioned, it seems that Elodie is of a lower class than they are. Birdie was the daughter of a clockmaker, and she was not a part of Edward's class.
