Objective

The objective of this lesson is for the class to discuss the history of Cambodia, both geographical and religious.

Lesson

1) Class discussion: Have the class discuss how Cambodia's history began one thousand years before the Khmer Rouge. What was built at that time? What religion predominated during those years?

2) In-class debate: Give the class some time to do some research on the US's, the USSR's and China's backing of various political groups in Cambodia in the 1970's. Hold a cross-class debate on the morality or immorality of such interference in Cambodia. In the book the interference of these countries leads to open conflict. Which of these countries was most to blame? Debate this.

3) In-class essay: Write an essay about whether it is wrong to interfere with the internal politics of another country.

4) Class debate: Have the class debate whether the United States should set itself up...
