Qwilleran is upset about the diet his doctor has recommended because it takes so much out of what he can eat. This is especially disconcerting considering that Qwilleran is a cuisine writer for the Daily Fluxion newspaper, and thus, in order to work, must eat all sorts of dishes, many of which are now off limits due to his diet.

Qwilleran cringes inwardly for several reasons. The first of these reasons is because he loathesx cottage cheese and forces himself to eat it.
