Plenty of imagery is utilized to tell the story and explain what is occuring.

The objective of this lesson is to take a closer look at the imagery utilized in this story.

Lesson

1) Initiate a class discussion on the imagery used so far in this story. How does imagery make for a better story? Suggest reasons for this.

2) Break the class into groups of two or three and come up with a short list of two or three of the most powerful images utilized between Chapters One and Four. What makes these images stand out?

3) In short essay form, discuss whether or not the use of imagery is intentional to make a picture in the readers mind. What images could be utilized in the pursuit of other literary devices? What other literary devices may or may not be utilized in this chapter?
