• The book opens with a black and white image of the boy, his back to the viewer, turning his head to look at a small dark animal shape on the ground next to him.

• "Hello," he says (1).

• On page 2, the boy and the mole are presented in side-view, looking at one another.

• There is no dialogue.

• The boy lifts the mole, who says "I'm so small" (3).

• The boy tells him that although he is small, he makes a big difference.

• The boy lifts the mole onto a tree branch.

• The mole asks him what he wants to be when he grows up, and the boy replies "Kind" (5).

• On page 6 the boy and mole sit on the tree branch...
