Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze Li's depictions of Saint Remy, Agnes's home village. In the early 1950s, Saint Remy is a rural, farming, backwater village that is small and poor. It has been ravaged by the war, and both Agnes and Fabienne have experienced loss and tragedy related to the war in their own families.
