Objective
Introduction to Mythology
Students need to understand the basics of mythology to create a deeper understanding of the text. Therefore, a study of the basic themes, images, stories, and deities is necessary. The objective of this lesson is to examine the basics of Greek mythology.
Lesson
1. Class Research/Discussion: Discuss the roots of mythology. Ask students to find information on origins of mythology, names of gods/goddesses, imagery associated with Greek mythology, lessons taught, etc.
2. Group Activity: Have the students create a multi-media presentation on one of the gods/goddesses/heroes from Greek mythology. Groups should detail aspects of their character that include origin, parents, strengths, weaknesses, spouse, children, challenges faced, imagery associated with the character, and any other material that they find interesting. Groups should share presentation with the class so that the other students are able to learn about all of the main characters...
