Objective
The objective of this lesson is to discuss Tom's accident, and how it led to addiction. Tom was injured when he was working on the roof of a house alone. He fractured his hip and pelvis and became addicted to painkillers.

Class Discussion: What does Tom remember about his accident? Does he think the accident might have been avoided? What injuries did Tom have after he fell off the roof? What was his situation and physical condition when he came home from the hospital? How did he have to spend his time lying in a hospital bed? What type of pain did Tom have after the accidents and the surgeries? How did the painkillers he was prescribed lead to addiction?
Activity: Divide the students into small groups. Have each group whether Tom is still addicted to something to relieve his pain. Is Tom still taking...
