1) Possible Activities:
* Have the students discuss in pairs/triads why Helen's apparent nature of being verbally gifted from a very young age might have helped her even after she lost her ability to see and hear.
* Have the students write a paragraph describing the ways in which Helen is fortunate.
* Hold a class discussion where the students will need to draw conclusions as to how Helen's asserting disposition and persistent temperament might be an advantage to her as she overcomes her disabilities.
Homework
Have the students write what they believe is the significance of understanding how Helen's skills developed before she lost her hearing and sight.
Challenge
