Lesson 1 (from Chapters 1-2)
Objective
In this lesson, students will learn the function of the "front matter" of the book: the title page, copyright page, dedication page, and the Table of Contents. Using the information, students will discover the age of the book, the name of the author and illustrator, make predictions about the story line, and discuss why certain books stand the test of time and are still taught in the classroom decades after the original publication.
