Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is to acquire background knowledge on Maya Angelou and her work in order to deepen students' comprehension of and engagement with "Still I Rise." Maya Angelou is among the most well-known and beloved of American poets. This lesson offers students insight into Angelou's significant contribution to both civil rights and American letters, offering them a helpful context for reading "Still I Rise."
