Objective

The story begins with one of the main characters, Tusker, dying of a heart attack. The objective of this lesson is to understand the author's use of this unique storytelling technique, using the climax of the story as a way to begin the novel.

Lesson

1. Class Discussion:

What is the climax of the story? Is this also the end of the story? Can it be? What do we already know at this point in the story? Does is make you, the reader, want to know the events that led up to the climax? Why? Why not? What is Tusker doing when he dies?

2. Group Discussion: Divide into 4 groups and discuss the following:
