Objective
The objective of this lesson is to understand a genre to which Sooley belongs—sports fiction (per the Library of Congress). How and where a novel fits influences how it is understood by its readers, as well as what readers it is likely to reach; readers interested in sports fiction might pick it up as a matter of course, while those who scorn such works might never read Sooley.
