Poetry Reading
Take a day in class to enjoy a poetry reading. Students may read sections of the poem aloud, along with their own poetry, or poetry from other authors. Discuss how the poems are structured as well as the differences between reading poetry and speaking it.
News Article
Ask students to look in their local newspaper for an article that involves some aspect of the poem and bring it to class. They will present it in front of the class and explain why it relates to “Song of Myself.”
