This object represents the very small amount of freedom provided to the inhabitants of the community in which the protagonist grows up. This object is given to children at a young age and then is refurbished and given to another child later. When Claire is assigned her new job at the Fish Hatchery, she is assigned a new one of these objects, signaling her arrival into adulthood.

This object represents the scarce amount of individualism present within the community's stringent structure. This object acts as Gabe's comfort item when he is a baby at the Nurturing Center and is unique to him only.
