Junichiro Tanizaki is one of the most celebrated writers of modern Japanese literature. Some of his more famous works are "The Key," Captain Shigemoto's Mother," and "Some Prefer Nettles." Tanizaki was awarded the Order of Culture in 1949 for his work. This lesson discusses the author of the novel "Some Prefer Nettles," Junichiro Tanizaki.
Lesson
1) Library research: Have the students research the author, Junichiro Tanizaki. Explore the other works he has written, as well as his background. Take a look at interviews and critical essays on his work to gain information on his writing and where "Some Prefer Nettles" fits in with his other novels and works.
