Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the author’s background and personal interest in the subject matter reflected in the story. Students will discuss and research information like where the author is from, how old she is and what other books or stories the author has published. Students will consider how this information might impact their reading.
Deborah Eisenberg was born in 1945. Her first short story collection was published in 1986. She currently resides in New York City and teaches writing at Columbia University. Deborah grew up in Chicago and is of Jewish descent.
