Objective
Objective: Magical realism is the technique of incorporating illogical or magical elements into an otherwise believable scene. Magical realism is often associated with the literature of Latin American authors. Castillo uses this technique when describing events that seem unbelievable such as La Loca soaring to the ceiling of the church at her funeral as a young child. The objective of Lesson #1 is to discuss the use of magical realism in this story and understand how it adds to the overall effect of the work.
