Queenie's parents ran a butchery. Every year the Butchers' Association would arrange an outing organized for the butchers, the butchers' wives and children, and the butchers' favorite workers. It was like a holiday.

The man she sees standing in front of her is dark and rough. his shirt is not buttoned properly, and his shirt is tucked in the front and hanging out at the back. One of his shoelaces is undone.
