Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze Shapiro's exploration of the consequences of youthful decisions. In Part I, 17 year-old Sarah makes a snap decision to ask her 15 year-old brother Theo to drive her and a friend home one summer. Sarah has been drinking, but she also tells herself Theo needs to toughen up and come out of his shell. But the choice has disastrous, and fatal, consequences for their passenger, Misty Zimmerman, and for many years afterwards.
