The objective of this lesson is for students to explore how the process of immigration has shaped the lives of these characters, and to discuss what social questions arise when immigrants are placed in a multicultural environment.

Lesson

1.) Class Activity: As a class, create a timeline describing Tati's immigration process. How did this process affect Antonia's life growing up?

2.) Class Activity: As a class, compare / contrast the way Moravian immigrants are treated in the town where Antonia grew up with the way German immigrants are treated. What is the same about their treatment? What is different? Is there anything unexpected / surprising in this comparison?
