Objective
This lesson introduces students to the nonfiction book She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement by Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor. Students will read the Preface and discuss the book’s genre, structure, and narrative style. She Said details the research, investigation, and publication of a groundbreaking New York Times exposé on allegations of sexual harassment, assaults, and cover-ups by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. The book also looks at a number of other stories on harassment and the impacts of the Me Too movement.

Research Activity: Take time in class to conduct research on Harvey Weinstein and the New York Times article that initially broke the story of Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct. What was the title of the article? When was it published? What impacts did the article have on the public and on The Weinstein Company?
