Alchohol
There are multiple instances of substance abuse in the town. Camille points out that everyone in Wind Gap drinks. Camille also comments that she drinks instead of cutting herself. Alcohol and its consumption symbolize the character's need to cover up their problems and avoid dealing with the serious issues facing themselves and their town.
The Teeth
Natalie, Ann, and later Lily have their teeth removed by Amma after she kills them. She uses the teeth to line the floor of her mother's room in her dollhouse. The teeth symbolize Amma's attempt to control others and her overall need to be in control. The teeth are her way to disempower others while empowering herself.
The Dollhouse
Amma has a large dollhouse that is an exact replica of her own home. She spends hours and lots of money trying to get it just right. The dollhouse symbolizes Amma's childhood...
