Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze the theme of friendship in “The Cabuliwallah.” In this story, Tagore depicts human connection across divides of age and nationality.

Class Discussion: How would you characterize the relationship between Mini and Rahman in "The Cabuliwallah"? What are the key details that Tagore uses to depict this relationship? How does Mini's father respond to it? What do you think of Mini's mother’s reaction to the two spending time together? What do you think the author’s attitude toward their friendship is?
Small Group Activity: Divide the class into small groups. Each group should work together to create a scene involving Mini and Rahman that includes dialogue, something the reader only sees in fragments through the narrator’s limited observations. If there is time, the scenes may then be acted or read before the class...
