• "The Cabuliwallah" - The narrator's five-year-old daughter, Mini, is very talkative, something that does not bother him but does annoy her mother.
• When the narrator was in the middle of working on his new novel, Mini burst in and brought up a series of topics—something the doorkeeper said, how she had been told an elephant in the clouds made it rain, and his relation to her mother—moving on from one to the other before the narrator could even respond.
• The narrator sent her out to play and returned to his work, writing the chapter in which his book's hero is about to escape from the castle with the heroine in his arms.
