Robert Collier's "The Secret of the Ages" was a forerunner in the genre of self-help tutorials, published in 1926. Robert Collier (1885-1950) was a prolific writer and progressive publisher whose philosophies and writing are associated with New Thought, a spiritual movement which developed in the United States during the late 19th century and emphasizes metaphysical beliefs. In this lesson, students are introduced to the book and will research and discuss Robert Collier and the New Thought movement.
