Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the authors' background and personal interest in the subject matter reflected in the novel. Jean Kwok is an award-winning Chinese American author. She is known for works such as Girl in Translation, Mambo in Chinatown, and Searching for Sylvie Lee. Kwok is fluent in Dutch, English, and Chinese, and lives in the Netherlands with her family.
