Dioramas
Split the class into groups and assign each group a different setting from the book; e.g. the school, the apartment, the crack house, the firehouse, the park, etc. Have each group create a diorama of this setting along with a description of how this setting affected the plot of the book. Arrange these dioramas in chronological order.
Appeal Money
Have the students create a plan that Jamal could have used to help raise the money needed for Randy's appeal.
