Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Anna's perceptions of her father, based on what her mother has told her about him, in Part I. Anna has never met her father, and her mother has told her very little about him. Anna knows only that her father is Black, and that he was a young man when he had a short affair with her mother in London before moving abruptly back to his home country. When Anna finds a diary of her father's with her mother's things following her mother's death, she feels it is like a map offering the only clues she has ever had to who her father really was.
