• The Introduction begins by explaining why Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg deserves all the attention she has received: she has fought for the equality of all people, therefore both men and women have benefitted greatly from the work she has done and all she has accomplished.
• Ruth was born in Brooklyn in 1933 as Joan Ruth Bader but went by Ruth, because there were several other girls named Joan in school.
• Ruth was the daughter and granddaughter of Jewish immigrants.
• Ruth’s mother was very strict but supportive when it came to Ruth’s education.
