Lesson 1 (from Part I (Chapters 1 - 3))
Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Vivian's relationship with her daughter, Maddie. Vivian and Maddie's father were divorced when Maddie was very young and Vivian raised Maddie mostly by herself. Maddie and Vivian have quite a close mother-daughter relationship, as evidenced by the fact that Maddie calls her mother and strongly urges her to come to England with Maddie on a work trip as a stylist to the new Duchess in the British Royal Family - partly because Maddie and Vivian have never spent a single Christmas apart.
