Objective

The objective of this lesson is to discuss Crusoe's desire to go to sea in spite of warnings and misfortune that befalls him and what the author conveys to readers regarding fate and destiny through Crusoe's behavior. Although Crusoe is told after a disastrous voyage at sea that he should stay on land, he does not listen. Even though Crusoe often knows in advance that the actions he plans on taking are ill-advised, he goes ahead with his plans anyway.
