Lesson

1. Class discussion: What is significant about the historical perspective of this story? What do you know about 1941, and this era in general? Why do you think the author might have chosen to write this story in this time frame?

2. Journal entry: How do you think the story would change if it were told set in the present time rather than in 1941?

3. Group assignment: How is 1941 different from today? Create a Venn Diagram or a chart showing the differences in the eras.

4. Homework: Research the year 1941 and find 5 facts that are relevant to the story.
