Ragged Island is surrounded by a great deal of mystery due to all the different groups who have tried to find Ockham's buried treasure. Students will analyze why all these different exploration groups seemed to be just a steady string of disasters.

Lesson

1. Class discussion:

A. What types of disasters did these other groups run into?

B. Why do these groups run into these types of disasters?

C. Did any of these groups do research from the other groups that attempted to explore the Water Pit?

2. Analyze:

Students will find evidence from previous exploration groups to help them create a more successful exploration group at the Water Pit. What conclusions can you draw about each of the exploration groups that previously tried to find the treasure?

3. Journal writing:

Students will write about how Ragged Island became tagged as a place where only disasters happen...
