Collage

Students will create a collage based on the major events of "Riptide." Students will use pictures from magazines and newspapers only. Students will focus on events from "Riptide," such as finding the treasure vault, the Plain Jane, Hatch's childhood home, the Water Pit, or whatever students may choose as events or things from the story. Whatever students choose, the collage must contain words and / or pictures to paint a picture of the event.

Newspaper Article

Students will write a newspaper article on the death of Johnny Hatch. Students will use information obtained in the story about the Water Pit and the Hatch family to help make the article clear to readers. Compile the newspaper articles and make copies to distribute to the class.

Students will create a rap about events that occur when Neidelman finds the treasure vault. Students can mention people present and things that...
