Jeff's dearest wish is to become a soldier. He and his father rode their horses to Leavenworth to hear the Presidential candidate Abraham Lincoln speak. Mr. Lincoln spoke as if he was having a conversation with those around him. He has such an impact on young Jeff that he still remembers some of his words by memory.
