Draw a Character
Have students draw their interpretation of a character from the novel. Artistic ability is not important, but their drawings must reflect the type of costume worn by the character, whether the character is fat or thin, bald, prim or slovenly. What colors do the characters wear?
Costume Day
Students should research the period style of dress from the novel and create (with parents' permission) a version of a costume that resembles this period. Students can bring costumes to class for a costume day.
Draw the Setting
Students are given time to create their own vision of the set for the novel. How would they design it?
