Lesson 1 (from Prologue - Part One - Chapters 1-6)
Objective
The objective of this lesson is to help students learn the difference between explicit information and implied information as they read a text.
The characters in Rich People Problems are developed through their relationship with wealth, or the lack of it, and the role they play as part of a large family. In order to understand the novel, students must be able to identify explicit information and be able to draw inferences from the dialogue and actions. Citing textual evidence for both explicit and inferred information will strengthen their reading comprehension and develop analytical skills.
