Objective

Objective: Introduction The introduction tells what is to come in the story. The objective of this lesson is to look at the introduction of this short story to determine how it adds to providing the reader with an overview of the story's plot.

1) Class Discussion: Read through the introduction together. Discuss what the reader gleans from the introduction.

2) Group Discussion: Discuss whether you can tell who the main character of the story is. Talk about whether this introduction provides insight into the plot or only clues about the characters. Discuss whether the introduction gives the reader an understanding of the author's point in writing the story.
