On September 11, 2077, a blinding fireball appeared in the eastern sky of Europe. It began to disintegrate while over Austria, causing a series of concussions so violent that more than a million people lost their hearing. A thousand tons of rock and metal impacted Italy, destroying the cities of Padua and Verona and causing a tidal wave to wipe out Venice.

2. What was the initial response to the catastrophic destruction of 2077?

Initially, after the catastrophic destruction, mankind unified in a historic way. Even though a meteor strike in a populated area is rare, the population of the Earth realized the next one could be even worse. As another meteor strike was inevitable, the people of the Earth united to create an organization to ensure the defenses of Earth would never be breached again. This organization was called SPACEGUARD.
