Dancing
Invite someone to do a demonstration of some of the dances mentioned in the story. It is more fun if the students learn some of the dances, too.
Having a Ball
Have the students plan a ball like the one held in the story. Decorate the classroom, make some snacks and drinks. Play music from the time. If the students are able, have them dress as the people in the story are dressed. The same proper etiquette is followed.
Scottish Foods
Make some of the foods mentioned in the story. Look online for the recipes. The students also add other recipes that are popular at the time of the story. They work in small groups and prepare the items themselves and bring them to class to eat.
