Lesson 1 (from Prologue and Level One: Chapters 1-5)
Objective
Ready Player One is an allusion-filled science fiction novel set in the year 2045. The Prologue introduces the character of James Halliday, a brilliant video-game programmer who grew up in the 1980s and grew obsessed with this era as he aged. Halliday is responsible for creating a virtual universe known as OASIS. In this lesson, students will research, analyze, and discuss the setting of the Prologue, the OASIS virtual universe, and the narrative style of Ready Player One.
Lesson

Group Assignment: Assign students to groups of 3-4 each. As a group, compare and discuss research and collaborate in developing a presentation or project that defines OASIS and examines this setting in Ready Player One...
