Valmiki
This person is the poet who wrote the epic poem The Ramayana; a sage who meditates so long they are encompassed in an anthill. This character teaches the poem to two disciples, who perform it at a festival.
Rama
This character is the human embodiment of the god of the earth. He is exiled for fourteen years, and his wife is stolen from him, but he recovers her and reigns for ten thousand years of peace and prosperity.
