Objective

Chapter 1 Dilemmas

The book opens with Chapter 1 presenting a few hypothetical ethical dilemmas. Each situation seems to offer no good solution to the presented ethical issue. One example focused on the case of two loved ones in separate rooms debating the option to push or not to push a button in order to save or be saved, or on the other hand to kill or be killed. This lesson takes a closer look at this hypothetical ethical dilemma.

Lesson

1) Class Discussion: What is a hypothetical situation? What is an ethical problem? In the case of the loved ones in separate rooms why is there a dilemma? What are some possible solutions, and what are the drawbacks and/or advantages of each solution?
