Turn out the lights
For a few moments, turn the lights out in the classroom and experience disorientation in the dark. With the lights back on, discuss the things you felt and heard while the lights were out.
Collect religious symbols
Bring to class pictures of religious symbols from both churches and rustic, homemade symbols. Make a montage display of these symbols.
Interview a priest, brother, nun, or religious leader of a denomination
Interview a religious official to find out reasons for taking their vocation and report those back to class for discussion.
Ban cellphones from the classroom.
For a week, ban students for having a cellphone in the classroom, even if it is turned off. At the end of the week, find out who smuggled their cellphones into class anyway. Then discuss the ineffectiveness of banning anything.
